When I was still a bachelor and lived on the beach on the North Shore of Oahu my roommate and I used to trap lobsters on the reef. We would usually have more than we could eat or sell and the remainders would live in the fridge for days wrapped in seaweed. Sometimes there would be a dozen or more. It was quite a shock for my now wife when she opened that door the first time.

Yup, they are alive.
The problem is global warming. Normally the animals would overwinter outside, but it’s too warm. So she stuck ‘em in the fridge.

Cute picture indeed. Yes, the turtles are -brumating- (hibernating if you prefer, although that term is more apt for mammals). Of course, with this setup the turtles run the risk of somebody assuming they are there for Soup!
