Roxie is at Peace
My brave girl collapsed today and made her final trip to the vet.
She was ready to go and went very quickly, and beautifully. She is at peace…..
There are days we live
as if death were nowhere
in the background; from joy
to joy to joy, from wing to wing,
from blossom to blossom to
impossible blossom, to sweet impossible blossom.

From Blossoms
This is not one of those days for me….
UPDATE:
The veterinarian’s office sent a very nice sympathy card, signed by all of the staff members.
It’s nice to know you have a vet that really cares about your pets….

I’m so very sorry. I know how much it hurts. Peace to you and your family.

We are all at half-mast here. It is little balm to the pain to which I, too, am no stranger, but know that she was no less lucky to have been a part of your home than you were to have had her. If you need anything, please call.

Thanks to everyone…..

So sad for Roxie and for all of you. Your Darwin inspired us to get our golden Stella. And we knew that we would be growing old and toward death together. Such powerful and inspiring friends!

I’m so sorry to hear this, Donna. She was wonderful!
It’s not much, but at least she was healthy from having been with you and in your great home up until the end.

From my distant perspective, it seems Roxie lived the kind of life that, if we could plan our dogs’ lives, she lived that kind of life.
As an intense lover of animals and of all life, my heart goes out…

I’m terribly sorry for your loss, but glad your hearts are consoled by her peaceful end.

Peace to you, good journey to Roxie.

Thanks again for the good wishes. Darwin has been really upset, Chance is depressed, too. They’re play fighting a lot with each other to see who is going to lead their now very small pack. Really missing the alpha female a lot….
As for me, well, having an animal you love die in your arms changes you, changes everything for you….
Precious little time to waste here, so we will make it count. Like my brave girl did…

donna, just reading this and am so sorry for your loss. What you said about having an animal you love die in your arms changing you is true. I had that happen with my Emma and know I will be going through it again with my Kate soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you tonight.
