Back from vacation in Hawaii

Just got back to San Diego last night after a wonderful two weeks in Hawaii, Maui, and Kauai. It was a great trip, with lots of snorkeling, boat rides, volcano watching, and so much more. While in Maui, we took the kids to see Farenheit 9/11. It was an interesting film, and the Hawaii audience reacted with a great deal of applause. I certainly didn’t hear anything new from the facts I’ve noted the past couple of years via various Internet sites. But the presentation of them was outstanding, and will surely win Moore another Oscar.

It seems strange that in a state so beautiful as Hawaii, with so much to do, the people are well informed about what is going on in the world. Perhaps because there are so many visitors from around the world, people in Hawaii tend to become very well informed. Much the same thing happens in San Diego, but there is a broad base of conservatism that seems to choose to remain uninformed. I don’t really know why.

I was happy to get home to my beautiful and loving golden retriever and my kitties. I’ll miss gorgeous beaches, waves crashing outside my window, turtles surfing in the waves, and all the other fantastic sites of Hawaii. And I will be back, to visit the special beach where my parents have found a final resting place, under a mountain whose Hawaiian name means “Remember”. There is so much of this beautiful trip I will fondly remember, as well as my wonderful parents.
